I was born to do this
When my father designed this house in 1968, it was a modern showpiece, the first home in North Carolina with a courtyard pool and received special recognition from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
After my mother had lived in it for 40 years, it was filled not only with huge canvases of original art, mid-century furniture and antique Persian rugs — it was also stuffed with junk that needed to be thrown away.
When we moved my mother to Burlington to live in a little cottage in my backyard, I managed the process of cleaning out the house so we could put it on the market.
I realized how overwhelming this process could be for other families, and that my background gave me a special appreciation for the job. I founded Cogswell Estate Services, LLC to provide this service for others who don't have time to do it themselves.
